If someone went to Confession and told the priest about committing a crime such as murder, will the priest report you?

In Sunday school they told us that the Priest won’t report what you tell him, but they also said he would try to convince you to do the right thing and turn yourself in as penance.

I was just looking at all these answers and was confused at the misinformation because I thought I was on /r/Catholicism.

Anyways, unless for some reason I’m misinformed, a priest cannot break the seal of confession without the person’s permission. If he does then he automatically incurs excommunication.

I don’t think they do. From what I understand the confession is between God, the priest and the person being confessed.

I found this link for Catholicism that explains it better. I am not sure in other religions.
